I am not much of a farmer but I do understand the concept. When I was growing up both my grandparents had large gardens. Early in the spring we would plow the field and remove the large rocks to get the soil ready for planting. We would have a row of beans, corn, tomatoes, etc. During the hot Georgia summer months we would have to pull weeds and water the plants. This seemed like a lot of work for vegetables we could just go to the store and buy.

In the Bible, God compares the mission field to the process of planting and harvesting. The Great Commandment is going out in the world to prepare the soil, to plant the seed, to tend to the fields in preparation for the day of the harvest.

Now let’s look at the modern day church as a whole. What are we doing to prepare, plant, and water for God to have the great harvest. The preparation may begin in the church but it has to move outside the walls to work. The mission field is outside the walls.

Adventures in Missions vision is moving toward Church planting. We plant a church and train them to plant a church and so on. We can not wait to walk on this journey with God. We know it will not be easy at times but it will be so worth it. You see you can’t buy Christians in the market you have do all the hard work for God to have the harvest.

 Matthew 9:37-38

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
