March was a tough month for us. We did not really have any groups. Carol and I seem to thrive more when we have others to serve and to love on. We had a retreat with our team to refocus and to learn the direction that Adventures is headed. It was all great to be able to relax but it does not replace the teams. I know we need that waiting season in our life to be most effective for the Kingdom.

My first real mission trip was back in 1998 to Honduras. We went there after Hurricane Mitch had destroyed much of the country. We went to work at an orphanage to help build a school. Our job that week was to build a roof for a new school being built at the orphanage. At the end of the week we needed a wood beam  of about 20 ft to run across the corner room. We went to David Martinez the founder of the orphange to let him know what we needed. He said we needed to find Juaquin to cut it for us. We had heard a chainsaw going all week and wanted to meet this Juaquin who was providing all the wood for our project. We proceeded to go over the hill to the area we had heard the saw running.  We found Juaquin sitting on stump sharpening his Stihl chainsaw. We told him what we needed and he got up and went over to a jar of oil and pulled out a string from the jar. He popped a line on a tree that had just been cut down. When he cranked the saw he cut thru the tree like a knife thru soft butter. We grown men grunted all the way back to the school with a freshly cut beam.

You see God needs to sit us down at times to sharpen us. We can go all the time in the ministry. We need time with him and in his word. Then we can be the sharpest when he needs us.
