Trust in the Lord

What do we put our trust in? Is it our careers or our money ,or is it our families and friends?  Our careers or money can be wiped out in an instant by severe illnesses or a disaster like an automobile accident. Our families and friends are human and make mistakes that can sever our relationships. The only thing that is constant and unchanging is God. He was here in the beginning and will be here forever. His love for his children is unwavering. We can not do anything to earn his love and we can not do anything to lose it. It is a gift that we do not deserve.

Proverbs 3:5-6 says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not  lean on your own understanding. He will lead in straight paths”

We have had many groups come through the house since we have been here. The most recent group was a group of 45+ girls ages 18-22. They left the U.S. October of 2016. They were in Asia for 3 months then Africa for 3 months. We first saw them in April this year. We hosted the whole squad for 3 days. After that 6 girls stayed with us until the end of May. When they arrived they had been beatened down and broken from their experiences in Africa. I will leave it at that, Africa was not good to them. We had them at the house for about 45 days. Over that time our team poured into them and loved on them and shared with them God’s sovereignty . Over that time period we began to see healing. They chose not to give in to the experiences in Africa and to push through to see what God had for them in Guatemala. I can say over that time period we picked up 6 more daughters. It is so wonderful when you get up around 6am to start your day preparing breakfast and coffee that there was always someone up reading God’s word and journaling. Most people think that this generation is all about themselves. I can tell you onething, many are about building God’s kingdom.

We have been here for almost 9 months. Our journey has had it’s ups and downs. We have thoroughly enjoyed the ministry. We have had a few setbacks with the wreck and now having to repair our roof. But onething that is constant is God.

In 1 Peter, Peter talks about putting our trust in God alone. That everything else will wither away but God will be there to the ends of times. He also said to expect suffering that it is temporary and God is not. That no matter our circumstances we should fix our hope on God’s promise of deliverance.

  1. Hi Craig and Carol! Keeping you in my prayers, and so sorry about your roof damage. I am supposing this is from the earthquake. Please take care and God bless you both in your ministry!

  2. Hi Craig and Carol,
You and your household will be blessed by your faithfulness to the Lord. I was reading in Acts this morning and this passage made me think of you~
“And they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. . .
And he rejoiced along with his entire household that he had believed in God.”
    ??Acts? ?16:32, 34? ?ESV??
